Our adult dance program offers individuals many opportunities for dance training, performance venues and community involvement. Whether you are brand new to dance, returning to dance, or looking to be part of a dance “social” network, House of Dance has classes specifically for you. Dance is as diverse as the world in which we live and our mission is to offer classes and venues that will allow you the opportunity to challenge you mind, body and spirit and connect with those around you through:
Dance Classes – fun, exciting, and challenging classes offered weekly from beginning to advanced levels in ballet, contemporary,, hip hop, tap, R&B Line Dancing, Zumba and many more!
Ballroom – from smooth to rhythm ballroom dances – such as waltz to salsa – we have several group ballroom classes. Partners are not required in any of these classes. Private and semi-private sessions are also available. We specialize in wedding choreography for those who’ve never danced before.
World Dance – classes in Bellydancing, Classical Indian Dancing, African.

Belly Dance Fusion: The basics of Arabic Bellydance with many additions from the Silk Road North Africa and Andalusia. This class teaches the foundation of traditional Arabic steps and footwork, isolations, and hand movements, as well as the fluid arm movements of India, the hip-centric and full-body movements of Lebanese and Turkish dance, the shimmies of North Africa, and the beautiful turns and florets related to Flamenco and Danse a Mora of Spain. This class will increase your endurance, equilibrium and range of motion all while toning your body, especially your core.
Bellydance Fusion blends together the traditional steps and movements of the Silk Road with more modern styles that have come from the shores of California in the 1980's. In this class, we will discuss the cultural history of the dance, learn basic posture and technique. We will learn foundation movements of this beautiful dance and put them into a fun and easy to learn dance routine that you can take home and show off to friends. Wear comfortable clothing (no skirts), bring a water bottle and dance shoes if preferred. We usually dance barefoot. Yoga mats are encouraged for warmup and cooldown - bring your own - or one will be provided.

"Bollywood" is a style of dance that originated from the Indian film industry. It's simple but upbeat movements and lively music make it a very enjoyable dance. It incorporates graceful hand movements and sexy hip shakes. This workshop will help you become a little more graceful, and teach you how to loosen up! This class will focus on "top rock" and floorwork. Building upon strength and agility, you will begin with basic breaking steps and advance to sophisticated floorwork including the 6 step. The 6 step provides a base fo more complex moves and patterns.
This course will teach two of the most exciting and sensual Latin Dances - Cha Cha and Rumba. In this class, the student will learn partner connection, footwork ,timing and technique and be able to appreciate the similarity of the two dances with focus on individual music and style. No partner required.
This is a performance level class. Prior experience dancing hip hop required. Enrollment is by invitation or audtion with the instructor only.

Cardiovascular, weight training, and flexibility are the three most important factors to total body conditioning. As a dancer, stretching and strengthening is how to keep your “instrument” in tune. This allows you to move easier, create longer lines, and stay healthy. Stretching is the most neglected component which leaves you vulnerable to injury and shortened tight muscles. This class is a Total Body Stretch class with Core Strengthening and Creative Movement. Learn a fun way to keep your muscles flexible and strong.
An easy-to-follow workout that’s energetic, effective and lots of fun. This class is irresistible with great music and dynamic movements. Every level is welcome due to the programs unique design of basic progressions to non-intimidating creative choreography. This class improves your technique and performance in all dance forms by strengthening the body’s core while improving your balance, alignment, flexibility, coordination, and grace. The expectation is more lift, deeper plies, tighter turns, higher jumps, and improved extension and turn-out. Your movement will advance as you learn through imagery of body mechanics, breath control, increase core, posture and leg power through stability and explosive exercises, release tension, and lengthening movements to increase flexibility. Not a dancer? This class is developed to also help those individuals wishing to seek core and over-all strength, longer leaner bodies, grace, coordination, and the tools to help achieve a “dancer’s body”.
Come out and have fun while learning to swing dance to tunes of the 1940’s and up. In this class you will learn the basic steps of East Coast Swing, single step and triple step, partnering and timing to the music. No partner required. Must register by February 15, 2010. An intermediate technique class that focuses on arms, turns and leaps with some choreography. Students should have of ballet technique and terminology.

Using solid ballet technique, this class is geared to the intermed/advanced dancer to allow the dancer to explore many shapes and movements found in modern dance. This class will focus on release, energy and challenging choreography based in technical dance.
A performance level class for the interm/advanced hip hop students. This class will focus on cutting edge hip hop choreo and emphasis placed on performance skills and energy. Placement in this class is by audition or approval by the instructor only.
Pilates mat work is a total body toning system focusing on the core, your mid-section. Regardless of your current level of fitness, the Pilates Method will serve to both condition your body and help prevent injury as you increase your body awareness while flowing through the exercises.
Some of the benefits of Pilates are increased abdominal and back strength; stronger, leaner muscles; increased flexibility; improved balance, coordination and posture; and improved functional fitness for daily tasks and activities. At the end of class, you may also have a sense of well being and greater vitality.

This class focuses on a particular type of round dancing of Salsa. It was developed in Havana, Cuba in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Pairs of dancers form a circle, with dance moves called out by one person, a caller. Salsa timing, footwork and partnerwork is explained in detail. Partner not required as rotation is essential.
This course builds on the first Salsa Rueda - Level 1 by adding additional footwork, calls and partner exchanges. Previous experience in Salsa Rueda I required or completion of he previous course.
Come see routines from ballet to East Coast Swing. This performance offers a variety of dances from songs from popular movies. This year’s theme is “A Night at the movies. Come out and see routines in our annual showcase. Once you have purchased your ticket come by the studio and pick them up.

In this class you will learn the basics of partnering technique, basic step of East Coast Swing and a few minor turns. This class is a progressive class and each night builds on the other.
Swing 2 is an advanced leveled class. In this class you will learn more advanced steps and complicated choreography.
In this class the students will review tap terminology and learn more advanced foot work. More complex combination will be taught. Class is by instructor approval. Tap shoes required.
In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of tap dance. Basic steps and combinations will be taught at center floor and through across the floor progressions. Attire needed: snug, close-fitting clothing that students can move in. Tap shoes are required.
This class will teach you basic hip hop movements, timing and basic choregraphy.
In this level 2 class you will work on advanced hop hip movements at a quick pace. You will learn choregraphy. Emphasis will be on technique.

Tribal Fusion is a dance style with a foundation in belly dance and pulling influence from a variety of dances around the world. You will learn the basic elements of belly dance by using your core energy to create strong and precise movements. In this class you will be introduced to the philosophy of this dance and its yoga influence. As part of the tribal fusion style, the instructor has been personally inspired by dance styles such as Latin, African, hip hop. No prior dance experience required.
Level 1.5 will build on the elements learned from Level I. In addition, we will continue to learn and explore various movements and increase our core strength while beginning to incorporate movements into combinations. With these movement's, we will learn to create combinations with fluid transitioning. If Level I has not been taken, permission is needed by the instructor. This course will concentrate on the basics of Foxtrot, Waltz, and other smooth wedding social dances. Ideal for those who will attending a wedding in the near future or the bride and groom to learn the foundation of their first dance. Dance Attire: Please wear something comfortable and easy to move. This class introduces dances, music and culture of West Africa. It begins with warm-up exercises that will condition the body for the rigors of this form by developing strength, aerobic stamina, coordination, flexibility and rhythmic awareness. Class will proceed to across the floor exercises and culminate to learning cultural dances and songs from West Africa. This class will leave you invigorated and enlightened. Little known fact - Hip Hop dance has its origins in African Dance. Wonderful complement to any hip hop, modern, jazz or creative movement class.
